Feel like getting up close and personal with OneChoice Funeral Insurance? Here’s our leftover information that has nowhere else to go. If you’re keen to know even more, call us on 0800 005 806.
Who can apply for OneChoice Funeral Insurance?
Any New Zealand resident aged from 18 up to 79 can apply for OneChoice Funeral Insurance with guaranteed acceptance. Get started today — it’s that easy.
Are there any exclusions?
Just like any other insurance product, there are some things that our policy won’t cover, so it’s always important to read the Policy Document and Key Fact Sheet (available on our Policy Documents page) before making a decision. Keep in mind that cover is for accidental serious injury and accidental death only in the first 12 months.
How do I get cover?
It’s easy to get OneChoice Funeral Insurance. Start by requesting a quick quote and one of our team can provide you with an obligation-free quote!
Do I need to be tested before taking out cover?
No! There’s no blood tests or medicals required to apply for OneChoice Funeral Insurance.
How long can I keep my cover?
OneChoice Funeral Insurance covers you until you turn 100 years old. But don’t worry about losing out — on your 100th birthday, we’ll end your policy and pay you 125% of your benefit amount. You also have the option to cancel your policy once you turn 85 and receive 75% of your benefit amount paid to you.
How much cover can I get?
Funerals in New Zealand can be expensive, so we’ll let you choose a cover amount from $3,000 up to $30,000. If you suffer an accidental death or accidental serious injury, your benefit amount will be tripled up to $90,000.
Can I decide who receives my benefit?
Of course! Whether it’s your best mate, life partner, or anyone else you trust, simply fill out the Beneficiary Nomination Form to list them on your policy.

Am I covered while overseas?
Yes, OneChoice Funeral Insurance covers you 24/7 worldwide.
Is funeral insurance expensive?
We understand budgeting is important as you get older, so we do our best to keep your premiums manageable. With OneChoice Funeral Insurance, your premiums won’t go up every year. Plus, once you turn 85, we’ll stop charging you premiums.
What does accidental death mean?
An accidental death is classified as a death that occurs due to an accident as defined by the insurer. You can read more about the specific definition of ‘accidental death’ in the Policy Document available on our Policy Documents page.
Do I get my money back if I cancel my policy?
If you cancel your policy within the 30-day cooling off period, you’ll receive a full refund as long as you haven’t made any claims in that time. But keep in mind that OneChoice Funeral Insurance isn’t a savings plan, so if you cancel your policy outside of the cooling off period, you won’t be eligible for any refund.
Will my premiums increase over time?
Not as long as you’re with OneChoice. Your premiums won’t increase every year provided you don’t make any changes to your policy, and once you turn 85, we’ll stop charging you premiums.
Who is the insurer for this policy?
OneChoice Funeral Insurance is issued by Pinnacle Life, a New Zealand insurer. Pinnacle Life has been operating in the New Zealand market since 1998, so you’re in good hands.
