Can I decide who my payout goes to?
Of course! You can nominate a beneficiary for your life insurance benefit by completing our nomination form and returning it to:

Are there any exclusions?
As much as we love being different, we’re similar to other insurance brands when it comes to policy exclusions. We can’t cover everything, so make sure you check the Policy Document for a full list of events which will not be covered.
Am I covered while overseas?
Yes – OneChoice Life Insurance will still cover you while you’re overseas, whether you’re travelling for work or just to get away from life. But make sure you read the Policy Document for terms and conditions as some parts of your cover could change while you’re overseas.
How do I know if I’m eligible for cover?
That’s easy. We’ll ask you a few simple questions when you apply to make sure you’re eligible. If you’re a New Zealand resident between the ages of 16 and 70, you’re off to a good start.
Do I need to have a blood test or medical to apply?
No way! OneChoice lets you apply for cover over the phone without a medical or blood test. Just make sure you tell us everything we need to know so we’re on the same page.
How long can I keep my cover for?
Once your cover is in place, so long as you continue to pay your premiums your cover will continue until you choose to end it or (if applicable) your term expires.
For OneChoice Serious Illness Insurance or Total & Permanent Disability Insurance, your benefit will expire once you reach a certain age. Read the Policy Document for a full list of age limits for each cover option.
How much cover can I get?
Cover limits for OneChoice Life Insurance are depending on age and underwriting outcome. Use the table below to find out how much cover you’re eligible to apply for

45 – 49 | $1,500,000 |
50 – 54 | $1,000,000 |
55 – 59 | $750,000 |
60 – 70 | $500,000 |
Please note that separate limits apply for Serious Illness Insurance, and Total & Permanent Disability Insurance. Refer to the Policy Document for more information.
Can I cancel my policy?
Yes. We’d be devastated to see you leave, but all you have to do is let us know. If you cancel within the first 30 days we’ll refund any premiums you’ve paid as long as you haven’t made a claim yet. No hard feelings! Cancellations after the first 30 days do not qualify for a refund.
Which optional extras can I apply to add on top of my life cover?
When you’re applying for OneChoice Life Insurance, you can apply to add optional cover for Serious Illness and Total & Permanent Disability. Refer to the Policy Document for more information.
What information do I need to apply for OneChoice life insurance?
Just the basics. We’ll ask you your name, residency, age, gender, employment status, if you smoke, and other health and lifestyle questions. That’s usually all you need to apply.
